As he was sitting at a wedding, after the ceremony was complete, he was waiting for pictures to be taken and he noticed that as they took down the decorations and candles that they blew out the unity candle. At this moment he felt that they had blown out the very thing that symbolized the couples covenant union. He immediately felt led to create a concept that not only symbolized their Christian covenant but also something that would show this commitment for a lifetime.
